Let us introduce you to three absolute rockstars of the plant world: trailing philodendron, the snake plant, and ZZ Plants. With or without a green thumb, these are easy to love, and hard to kill!
Trailing Philodendrons and Pothos: Laid-Back and Lush
Why You’ll Love Them:
- Beginner-friendly: They tolerate low to bright, indirect light. If you forget to water now and then, they’ll probably forgive you.
- Tons of variety: We have many varieties to choose from at our Garden Center! A few favorite Pothos are ‘Neon’ and ‘Marble Queen’.
- Great for shelves or hanging baskets: Their vines want to wander and trail.
Basic Care Tips:
- Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
- Loves humidity, but won’t get mad if it’s dry.
- Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them glossy and dust-free.
Pro Tip: Want a fuller look? Snip and replant a vine cutting in the same pot—it’ll root easily and bush out over time.

Snake Plants: Carefree and Modern
Why You’ll Love Them:
- Hard to kill: You could almost forget this plant exists and it would still look fabulous.
- Air-purifying: NASA gave this plant a thumbs up for cleaning toxins from the air!
- Sculptural shape: Tall, sword-like leaves add modern drama to any room.
Basic Care Tips:
- Water once every 2–3 weeks (less in winter).
- Tolerates low light but thrives in bright, indirect sun.
- Prefers to be pot-bound—no need to repot often.
Pro Tip: Overwatering is their only nemesis. When in doubt, skip the watering can and let the soil dry out.

ZZ Plant: Robust and Tropical
Why You’ll Love Them:
- Glossy Gem: The Zamioculcas Zamiifolia, or ZZ plant, doesn’t need a lot of light or water to keep its foliage a bright and glossy green!
- Resilient: The ZZ plant is a great option for offices or homes alike because of its ability to survive even when being ignored.
- Note of Caution: These can be toxic to pets and people if ingested. Be sure to place it in a safe location.
Basic Care Tips:
- Plant in well-draining soil to guard against soggy roots.
- Water when the top inch of soil is dry, about once a month.
- Place in bright, indirect light. Direct light could scorch the leaves.
Pro Tip: Repot your ZZ plant every 3-4 years. This will refresh their nutrients and give them room to grow.
