The new year marked the beginning of the long awaited physical change at our Scholls Ferry location. As you saw in our last showroom post, we had a concrete walkway poured. We call it our ‘Runway’. Having it in place has made a world of difference, both from a functionality standpoint, and from our customers’ point of view. Just about all returning visitors are giving us rave reviews and positive feedback, as they continue to watch the change happen.
Our merry gang of superstars at work – Juan and Isaias installing the back fence of the Rustic Edible garden room!
A raised bed with an espalier is still to be built along the palisade fence, as you can see in the rendering below:
… and its rear wall was finished yesterday. The wall is concealing our plant storage area for a multitude of landscape jobs. As you can see in the rendering below, the partitions of the Contemporary Room will eventually consist of rusted steel planters.
In the earlier post you saw the stones going in for the third room. Themed ‘Pacific Rim’, it has an Asian-inspired PNW feel to it – even more so now with the louvered fence as a backdrop.
The plant selection for this room will include PNW natives, and shade-loving shrubs and perennials.
Most of the tables are done, and starting to fill up with new merchandise and plants.
Some of the tables have a certain settler’s rusticity to them. They were furnished out of our former Arborviate hedge that was taken down earlier this winter to increase space in our landscape storage area. We think they look kinda cool!
As I write this, Spring is upon us, and our new tables are filling up with plants, pottery and other fun garden accessories. If you haven’t before, come check our new digs out. Our Garden Rooms are far from being done, so regardless of how often you come – expect change. No day is the other one alike, here at Drake’s. 🙂
